I work primarily with children from 18 months through the elementary school years. Sessions are always play-based and child-focused. My sessions are child-directed (as appropriate) and informal, but are meant to be intensive, individualized intervention within the structure of play. I strive to create a therapy environment that is supportive to both the client and their family and always respectful of confidentiality.
I strongly believe for therapy to be it’s most effective, parents, caregivers, and educators must be involved. I encourage direct observation of therapy sessions whenever possible to allow parents and caregivers the opportunity to learn how therapy techniques are applied, so that they may be reinforced at home. If direct observation is not possible, a brief summary of therapy can be given at the end of each session. For more lengthy discussions, phone consultations or direct consultations can be arranged.
